EV charger installation covers Level 2 EVSE units from any brand, including the panel assessment, dedicated 240-volt circuit, mounting, and permit filing. Tesla charger installation covers the Wall Connector specifically, a hardwired unit that delivers up to 48 amps and integrates with Tesla’s app for scheduling and monitoring.
Plug-In or Hardwired
A plug-in EVSE connects to a NEMA 14-50 outlet and offers flexibility if you move. A hardwired unit is slightly more efficient and eliminates the plug as a failure point, which is why it is generally preferred for permanent installs. We install both types and recommend whichever fits your vehicle, garage layout, and long-term plans.
Panel Capacity Is the Key Variable
A 200-amp panel with spare breaker slots typically has capacity for a Level 2 circuit without further work. A 100-amp panel or a heavily loaded 200-amp panel may need an upgrade first. We perform a real load calculation, not just a breaker-slot count, to confirm capacity before quoting the job, and we combine a panel upgrade with the charger install as one project when needed.
A permit is required in virtually every California and New Jersey jurisdiction, and we handle that filing along with the follow-up inspection. SCE, PG&E, and LADWP customers may be eligible for EV charger rebates, and we provide the installation documentation needed to apply once your charger passes inspection.
